Sedation

At Walton Dental Surgery, we can offer nervous patients conscious sedation for their treatment. The two treatments that we have on offer are intravenous sedation and oral sedation.

The technique of conscious sedation is designed to relax your during dental procedures and dental treatment.

Intravenous sedation

For intravenous sedation, a small sedative is administered via the back of your hand or your arm.

This sedative then induces a state of deep relaxation that will make you feel sleepy. You will also find that you won't mind so much what is going on around you.

You will, however, need an escort to take you home and stay with you while you recover.

Oral sedation

Oral sedation is a well tried and tested method of sedation. No needles are used and you will be able to talk and respond to any instructions where necessary throughout your treatment and yet still feel relaxed and sleepy.

You will need to attend the surgery two hours before your appointment. Once the sedative has been administerd, you will then relax in a quiet room and be monitored at regular intervals.

Again, you must arrange for an escort to take you home and stay with you while you recover.

Conscious sedation is a safe way to have pain free dentistry, you will be looked after by a highly qualified and experienced anaesthetist.

We treat every patient as an individual and we take care to listen and understand your particular concerns.
